How to Register a Business in Oman (2026 Guide): Invest Easy & 100% Ownership
Oman has moved toward 100% foreign ownership across most sectors following reforms to its Foreign Capital Investment Law, and company registration now runs largely through a single online platform. The lead authority is the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), and most of the process happens through the Invest Easy portal.
The general process
- Reserve a trade name and confirm your activity is open to full foreign ownership (most are, though a short list of strategic/security-related sectors is restricted).
- Choose a legal form — a limited liability company (LLC) is the most common structure for foreign investors.
- Register through Invest Easy (business.gov.om), which issues the Commercial Registration and consolidates several related approvals.
- Obtain a municipal license for your business premises.
- Register with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), generally required for commercial entities.
- Complete tax registration with the Oman Tax Authority and labour registration once you’re ready to hire.
What we’re not publishing, and why
Fees and processing times vary by activity and change periodically, so we’re not quoting specific figures here. Confirm current requirements directly through Invest Easy or MOCIIP.
Next step: get listed once you’re licensed
Once your Commercial Registration is issued, list your business on Middle East Directory. Add your business or browse the Business Setup & Free Zones category.
